Decoding Geraldine’s Birth Chart
Hi, Kelley here. My daughter, Shannon, has pulled together Geraldine’s astrological chart. If you’ve read the books, you won’t be surprised to learn that evil was essentially baked into her DNA. Enjoy Shannon’s report below for a better and more complete understanding of our favorite antagonist.
I’m back with another birthday! This time we’re celebrating Geraldine’s birthday. Geraldine is Aisling’s aunt, and a complex and not always likeable character in the series. She was born on September 12th, right in the middle of Virgo season. We can definitely see some of the shadow side of Virgo in Geraldine. She’s controlling, a perfectionist, and wants things done her way, or else. Don’t worry if you’re a Virgo—there’s lots of good traits about Virgos (I’m one myself! In fact my birthday is September 11th…and I must admit that I felt a bit slighted when I realized my mom had put Geraldine’s birthday right after mine. What does that mean…?). Anyway, back to Virgo: Geraldine’s character and her story arc just show us an example of a darker aspect of this sun sign.
What’s really interesting is that Geraldine’s astrology chart is a pretty perfect fit for her character.
Let’s take a look at a few of her astrological signatures.
Geraldine’s chart has a major core conflict that shows up immediately: her Sun is in Virgo, directly opposite her moon in Pisces. This means she was born during an exact Full Moon, adding a layer of interest to her chart. Full moons happen once a month, and are times of illumination, release, and can bring secrets to light. Ironically, Geraldine’s life is full of secrets that she desperately doesn’t want to come to light…something you’ll learn more about if you read the books.
A Sun-Moon opposition like this in a chart creates a personality that holds two very strong opposites. The Sun is our external identity, how we show ourselves to the world, how we see ourselves. The Moon is our internal identity, how we experience and feel our emotions. Geraldine has her Sun in Virgo, which I talked about above. In addition to what I already said, her Virgo Sun gives her a gift of analysis, precision, and being detail-oriented. Her Pisces Moon makes her emotional, sensitive, and psychically attuned. This combination can mean that Geraldine may often feel caught between her logical mind and what may feel like an overwhelming and confusing emotional world. We can see this in her character, as she is very detail-oriented and analytical at times, and at other times seems to barely suppress her emotions before they overwhelm her. A Pisces Moon can also create a shadow aspect where it’s very difficult to get over past hurts and move on—something Geraldine definitely struggles with, which is a core aspect of the story.
Another interesting placement in Geraldine’s chart is her third house, which has the planets Jupiter and Uranus sitting very close together. The third house rules communication, messages, and siblings. Jupiter is a planet of expansion, while Uranus is a planet that brings energetic shake-ups and occasional chaos. These two planets sitting close together in her third house may influence her dreaming ability, making her dreams (or, in Aisling’s case, her dream teaching) unpredictable, sharp, or chaotic.
Next, let’s take a look at Geraldine’s Pluto placement. Pluto is a planet that represents our shadows and pain, and can show where in life we may experience transformation or power struggles. Geraldine’s Pluto is in her 4th house, her house of family and home. This suggests that her family is a source of power-struggles and betrayal. This is definitely true in Geraldine’s story.
Another layer to her family wound: Her Chiron, North Node, and Mars are in the 9th house, the house of higher meaning, philosophy, and belief systems. Chiron represents her core wound while the North Node represents her destiny and Mars represents her actions. We can interpret this by understanding that her core wound, destiny, and how she acts to achieve that destiny are all tied to creating an ideological framework that allows her to act from her wounds and justify her actions. Geraldine definitely does this in the books, justifying her actions via her belief system and framework of reality, including through her feelings of being hurt or betrayed by her family.

I have interpreted Geraldine’s chart through a lens that reflects her character storyline and how she (as a character) has chosen to embody her astrology chart.
