What Do the Stars Say About Aisling's Mother, Mary?
Hi, and welcome to a very unique and fun blog!
One of the things I do before starting a new book is determine the birthdays of my characters, partly to keep my timelines straight, but it turns out this little habit opens up a wonderful opportunity. It gives us a chance to explore the astrological charts of some of the main characters from the series! This week, my daughter Shannon is going to introduce you to the astrological chart of Aisling's mother, Mary.
For a bit of background, in case you haven't yet read The Dreammasters, Mary left Galway at the age of 19 and made her home in New Hampshire. There she met and married Matthew O'Leary, and together they raised their daughter, Aisling, far from her Irish roots. Aisling knew very little about her heritage — until circumstance, and a growing need to understand her own powers, brought her back to Galway. Want to know more? The astrological analysis in this blog post is by my daughter, Shannon. I hope you enjoy getting to know Mary Fitzgerald O'Leary a little better.
Today we’re starting with Aisling’s mom, Mary, because her birthday is June 8th. Happy birthday to Mary!
And don’t worry, while the picture above might look like gibberish to you, I’m going to keep this little astrological dive short and sweet!
Just a quick refresher about Mary and her story (at least her story that we know so far…):
At the beginning of book one, The Dreammasters, Mary is pulled into the Underworld and dies in a dream that Aisling witnesses. This dream is the catalyst to Aisling’s journey of discovering her family lineage as Dreammasters.
Let’s explore a few interesting things about Mary’s chart:
First, her sun sign is in Gemini, in the 4th house, along with her Mars placement. Her sun sign represents her identity, and her Mars sign represents actions she may take. The 4th house represents her roots, family and place of origin, which for her is Galway, Ireland. With Gemini in her 4th house, she may find herself drawn away from her home, because home may feel too restless and unstable. This is reflected in her decision in the story to leave Ireland and settle in the states, rarely returning home. Her Mars (action) pulled her to leave home and find a new place to settle down where she could redefine herself (Sun, identity).
Another interesting placement that aligns with Mary’s decision to move away is her Aquarius ascendant. Having an Aquarius ascendant makes her likely to be a pattern breaker, needing to leave the confines and expectations of her family. She’s also likely very independent with a need to create her own freedom and chosen family, which is exactly what she does in New Hampshire.
Next, let’s look at her death and how it’s reflected in her chart.
Mary has a north node in Aquarius, in the 12th house. The north node represents the soul’s fated path and the 12th house is the house of dreams, liminal space, and dissolving the boundaries between life and death. Aquarius holds a signature of rebellion, doing things outside of the norm. Mary’s death is a perfect representation of this. She dies in the Underworld, in a liminal, magical space.
To add another layer, in Mary’s chart her Neptune placement makes an angle with her Pluto placement, showing how the dreamworld (Neptune) touches the underworld (Pluto) in her life. Mary dies in a dream, after being pulled into the Underworld, and reuniting with her lost love, Lorcan.
How cool is that?
While Mary’s birthdate was picked out from the start, we played around with the timing of her birth to find a birth chart that fit her story and personality well. There’s so much more that we could dive into about her chart, but I’ll save that for her next birthday.
Did you enjoy taking a look at Mary’s astrology chart? Stay tuned, because we have more character’s birthdays and charts to share with you soon.
Until next time,
